Joanne Bezzina
Joanne Bezzina is a Sydney based Pilates educator, mentor, examiner and studio director, with a reputation as the teacher’s teacher. Joanne’s passion is teaching Connected Movement – her own innovative Pilates approach that focuses on the interaction between mind and body, teaching the whole person and not just the body. This technique encourages clients to make deeper connections with the work and themselves, helping them improve their strength and flexibility as well as their wellbeing and happiness.
Early in her teaching career Joanne realised that by facilitating a mind and body connection with her clients she was able to help them further in meaningful movement for life – from this the Connected Movement approach was born.
As a Pilates educator with over 15 years of teaching experience, Joanne believes that the best teachers form deeper relationships with their clients. By encouraging greater awareness of the interaction with the Pilates equipment and environment it is possible to create mindful movement. Joanne has found that this approach not only improves the teacher / client relationship but achieves better client outcomes.
Joanne has a wealth of knowledge and experience and developed a strong reputation within her practice and the Australian Pilates community.
Winning the 2017 Pilates Anytime Next Teacher Contest was a major recognition of Joanne’s solid instructor teaching skills. This was the culmination of building strong foundations as an educator and examiner for Polestar Pilates, a Pilates Alliance Australasia (PAA) Principal Trainer and Committee member and a NCPT Pilates Teacher (USA). It is these experiences, alongside her strong community connections and deep understanding of Pilates repertoire, anatomy and biomechanics that have positioned Joanne as a leading advocate for Pilates in Australia.
Joanne has been invited to present both on behalf of Polestar Pilates and independently. Her classes and workshops are highly sought. Jo brings a lightheartedness to her sessions while encouraging participants to understand the reason why behind each movement.
Joanne is the Director of Pilates On George a Sydney CBD studio where Connected Movement methods are a core focus for her and her team. In addition, she is the founder of the Sydney Pilates Teachers Social Group – an initiative designed to develop and support the Sydney Pilates instructor community.
Joanne’s universally relevant Pilates lessons promise great value and practical learning experience. She pairs a boundless patience and a sense of humour with a steadfast dedication to the practice of Connected Movement. The Movement’s inspiring visual and practical methods facilitate mindful connection, promising movement through life with a meaning that is both simple to communicate and understand – for both instructors and clients.
