Kim Gibilisco
Kim will be presenting 2 of her most popular and relevant workshops:
From Biscuits to Bananas
“From Biscuits to Bananas” calls upon dancer nomenclature of taking a rigid foot, aka “a biscuit,” and transforming it into a strong, mobile foot, “a banana.” Appropriate for all levels of movers, this workshop is designed to make foot/ankle mobility techniques developed by professional dancers more accessible to people of all walks of life. The repertoire taught in this workshop aims to increase the range of motion and acceleration/deceleration control of the foot and ankle. Fancy Feet aren’t just for Dancers!

Hip Me With Your Best Shot
“Hip Me…” is designed to enhance the participants’ understanding of the various challenges encountered and viable solution options when working with clients with labral pathologies. To date, there are no bonafide guidelines for the pre and post-rehabilitation of hip scopes for labral pathologies. However, both Physical Therapists and Pilates teachers frequently encounter pre and post hip scope patients/clients. Successful outcomes incorporate identifying adequate ranges of motion with optimal joint congruency, alignment and efficient neuromuscular recruitment strategies in a pain-free environment. Utilizing Pilates mat and equipment, participants of this workshop will understand the rationale behind re-education strategies using the Pilates repertoire and apparatus. This workshop includes a lecture incorporating a review of surgical and non-surgical options followed by a demonstration of tailored Pilates exercises with home program. The goal of the workshop is to offer new movement strategies and viable solutions for care and conditioning to an ever-growing population. This workshop is appropriate for Pilates Teachers, Physical Therapists and healthcare professionals.

Lisa Anthony
Lisa will be presenting her 1-day workshops on the Thorax – not to be missed!
Put a spring in your Thorax
Recent advances in scientific research and in physiotherapy clinical practice have led to a shift in the role of the thorax in whole body movement. Previously thought of as a rigid spinal area to protect the underlying viscera, it is now known not only as a highly mobile, flexible region of the body but a region that plays a fundamental role in shock absorption in the moving body, in whole body alignment and abdominal muscle recruitment. In this workshop the Pilates instructor will learn:
- the anatomy and osteokinematics of the thorax
- the function of the thorax in whole body movement .
- mechanisms of thoracic mobility and dynamic stability
- the role of this region as the body’s centre of rotation
- how to assess the thorax for alignment function, mobility and control
- effective cueing to facilitate recruitment of the deep controlling mechanisms of the thorax for optimal mobility and control
- positional release techniques in the Pilates studio to decompress the thorax to promote successful whole body movement in a Pilates session.
Delivery: Lecture and practical content.
